Chelsea Byers was sworn in as Mayor of the City of West Hollywood on January 21, 2025.
Mayor Byers’ priorities on the City Council include social service delivery, climate-change mitigation strategies, emergency resiliency efforts, creating more affordable housing and resources for renters, enhancing the streetscape for improved pedestrian and cycling experiences while reducing vehicle-dependency, and community-building and policy implementation to ensure the City of West Hollywood is an inclusive community for all.
Prior to being elected to City Council in November 2022, Chelsea served as a Human Services Commissioner in the City of West Hollywood. She also served as an appointee to the 6th Cycle Housing Element Task Force in West Hollywood.
Chelsea Byers is a social impact strategist and community organizer with 17 years of experience leading programs and overseeing operations with nonprofits, grassroots and community organizations.
Chelsea’s work with nonprofits has focused largely on supporting organizations and individuals to expand their capacity for impact and directing leadership development programs to create more powerful advocates.
She serves on the Board of Directors for National Women’s Political Caucus, and is the former President of the Westside Young Democrats and the board of Abundant Housing LA. Chelsea has participated in a number of fellowships including the Housing Policy Leadership Institute, New Leaders Council, Art for LA Activate Program, National Council for Jewish Women’s Advocacy Program, and the James Lawson Institute.
Chelsea is a dedicated voice on a range of issues including women’s and LGBTQIA+ rights, economic justice, climate resilience, homelessness, gun violence prevention, housing, and transportation.
